We are a 100% Bolivian owned and operated chocolate factory located in Sucre, Bolivia (9,000ft above sea level). For over 100 years, the people of Sucre have had a tradition of producing fine Bolivian chocolates. Our factory began over twenty years ago with seven employees and now has approximately 130 employees, of which over 100 are women. We currently have more than 20 employees that have worked with us for over ten years.
We provide our employees a competitive wage and a safe, secure working environment. Most of our employees are the sole wage earner for their immediate family. Therefore, we also provide several extra benefits such as a “pulperia” (company store) in which they can purchase essential items (rice, sugar, flour, milk, etc.) at significantly reduced prices compared to other stores in the area. Also, in addition to the government required medical insurance, we provide an extra “fondo solidario de salud” which provides money to our employees in situations that the normal medical insurance doesn’t cover.
Most of our ingredients are sourced from Bolivian suppliers covering all areas of Bolivia. Our cacao is from the Amazon area in northeastern Bolivia. Macadamias, Brazil nuts, peanuts and sugar are cultivated mainly in the low-lying central and eastern regions of Bolivia while quinoa and amaranth are grown in the high altitude Andes Mountains of western Bolivia. Additionally, our handmade boxes are sourced from all areas of Bolivia. In all, approximately 500 separate Bolivian providers are used during the year.
We take great pride in being able to improve the quality of life of so many Bolivians while producing a wonderful product at the same time.
For anyone who enjoys world class chocolates, this chocolate is for you. Chocolates Para Ti.
